Coffeemakers for Dummies
Rating:
This is the PERFECT unit for those who have NO CLUE how to operate a coffeemaker and don't want to do anything more than pour in the water, put in the coffee, and press a button. It is the ultimate in simplicity and does exactly what you expect in record time -- makes great HOT coffee!
BEWARE: There is NO AutoShutOff switch, so when the pot's empty make sure to turn off the unit or you'll break the carafe.
Nice and Simple and you can't beat the price!

When our workhorse Kitchen Aid coffeemaker died at work, I needed to quickly locate a replacement which was simple to operate as well as cost effective. We also had a huge stash of Melitta No.4 filters that I could not see going to waste, so what better way to ensure their usefulness than to purchase a Melitta coffeemaker?
I could not believe the price I paid ($14.99 + tax) and it appeared to be superior in construction to the slew of others out there (mostly Mr.Coffee). I did notice (after purchasing it) that there's no Auto ShutOff (which SHOULD be a STANDARD safety feature in the US, but everything nowadays is made in China - and this unit is no exception).
So we'll put this one through its paces and get back to you in 6 months with a follow-up report.
This is what I wanted a GOOD basic coffeemaker!

I have grown so tired from decades of buying coffeemakers with all the bells and whistles only to either have the bells stop ringing and the whistles stop blowing or having all the buttons and lights looking great from the top of my garbage bag as it joined all the other "sophisticated" coffeemakers. All I wanted was a coffeemaker that I could push a good big start button and 5 minutes later I could pull out the glass pot full of good, hot, rich coffee that even poured from the pot without dripping down onto my counter and sometimes my pants unless you got into the "zone" of pouring from a spout that was simply designed by a engineer who loved having his milk first thing in the morning from a cardboard half gallon container but not a spout from a glass pot. However, reaching the "zone" of anything was what I was drinking great coffee for. Basically I want an invisible coffeemaker. I don't even know or want to know if it turns itself off after a period of time...I just turned it off when it was finished and filled up my thermos with coffee that was, can you believe it, steaming hot and ready to give me refills all morning long. I could go on and on about its lack of features other than the ones I needed, but that would just be a waste of both of our times. This is a good simple coffee maker that I am sure will just do its job for years...Oh, I nearly forgot, the price is great.
