I have had many problems with this machine. It is VERY temperamental: turns on but never heats up, heats up but doesn't produce steam, sometimes it doesn't even turn on at all!!! This morning, because of yet another problem with this machine, I had to dust off my espresso maker that I have had since COLLEGE and that little, inexpensive machine STILL works better than my bells-and-whistles delonghi. I would NEVER recommend this headache to anyone.

I also purchased my BAR42E at Bloomingdale’s; I haven't had any problems with my machine as a whole. Although I'm really not into cappuccino, I tried, unsuccessfully, to froth the milk and it didn't turn out like Starbucks. Since I wasn't really committed to frothing it correctly, AND I tried to do it with half and half instead of milk, yuck! So as far as needing the frother, “I’ll think about it tomorrow.” I got a scare though, when the on/off light kept blinking; I had to descale the machine. I called the 1-800 number to purchase a bottle of their descaling solution; it cost over $14 dollars! PLUS, they didn't have it in stock so I bought some DIP ( or any espresso descaling solution) and ran it through the machine. After following the instructions I turned off the descaling alarm by pressing the on/off switch for at least 5 seconds and there ya go just like new! By the way, the instructions on how to descale the machine are in the instruction booklet, in case you didn’t read it. So I'm happy.
2nd one doesn't work

I purchased my espresso machine at Bloomingdales and had to return it less than a month later as it would not switch from espresso to foam. I exchanged it and now only 6 months later, it sprays water all over the place and the grounds go into the cup. i hate this machine.
