Burr grinder quality for a blade grinder price
Rating: Rating 8
I have used many grinders, and the burr grinders make a much, much better cup of coffee than the blade grinders. There may be better grinders out there, but if you can't afford to spend a fortune, this machine gives you "burr" quality for a "blade" price. It is convenient and easy to use, and easy to clean. I never have to measure coffee, I just press the "6" button and pour the grounds into the coffee maker.

There are a couple of minor inconveniences.
1. There is a small amount of ground coffee that ends up on the counter. Very little, in my experience, nothing like the big mess described below.
2. You do have to experiment with the coarseness settings until you find what you like. It took me three tries to figure out that I like it at setting 10. I used the finest setting a couple of times, to make espresso, and the results were great.

By the way, I have found that I prefer to use the amount of coffee recommended for 6 cups when I make 8 cups of coffee. That has nothing to do with this grinder, I have found exactly the same results with other grinders and other coffee makers.

I'd spend [more]for a better grinder

bottom line: the coffee made with grounds from this thing does taste great, and it does grind well. but here are some drawbacks that are very annoying:

1. the grinder will start even if the grounds cup isn't in place. I recently came home with a load of groceries and put a bag down on the counter, right in front of the coffee grinder. the bag hit one of the buttons on the front of the grinder and immediately I had ground coffee shooting EVERYWHERE. on the counter, the floor, the stove, my clothes, and in one of the drawers in my kitchen. a terrible feature.

2. the grinder is designed to grind just the right amount of coffee for one pot. yet it doesn't have a 6 cup setting, and the little grounds cup is hard to dump out into the coffee maker.

3. the grinder has no "on" setting; you must select the number of cups to grind. I guess I could push the 12 button over and over to grind ocffee for the week but this seems silly.

4. the cup and lid that hold the grounds cannot go in the dishwasher (according to the directions). this seems odd as well.

5. I haven't tried to clean the burr mechanism yet but this seems like it will be a chore to tip the whole thing upside down over the sink and dig out the old grounds.

so that's my experience. I'll keep it as a backup, but I plan on buying another burr grinder soon.

You get what you pay for, and 20 dollars for a burr grinder is a 20 dollar burr grinder. First off, let it be known that this IS NOT an espresso grinder AT ALL. 2nd, its messy, the static is just annoying; after you grind the coffee, you practically have to slam the ground hopper on the counter 5 times for some coffee to fall off the walls. and Third, Coffee is starting to fly out of the sides...

I would recommend you buy a more expensive machine to be content with your purchase
