Good luck...

Luck with a coffeemaker? With this design, you bet! I admit the removable water vessel is convenient, and who wouldn't appreciate a thermal carafe. The water filter is a nice touch and the apperance is good. But... When the unit was new, as the water is heated during the brew cycle the escaping steam would softening the plastic up just enough for the door to pop open. In turn, the coffee runs onto the counter and the floor. I was hopefull this could be fixed. After sending the unit to Capresso three times, the door still pops open. In every case, this happened upon the initial (post-repair) brewing. Its degraded to the point where now, the door never stays closed - so we use the coffee grinder as a "door stop". When it was sent to Capresso, they "repaired" the unit with used parts. After the third "repair" I asked for a new coffee maker and was told of their discretion was not to replace the unit. They also declined to apply a credit towards another model. Also, while this unit does make (and maintain) amply hot coffee, the taste of the brew is bad enough that I simply stopped buying whole bean coffee. It was really hard to tell the difference, so why deal with the added hassel and cost? My friends $15.00 Procter Silex brews better coffee than this piece of S&#%. So yes, GOOD LUCK!!!

They nearly thought of everything...

This machine seemed like it had everything I was looking for: a water filter, a gold coffee filter, a timer, and a thermal carafe. It does have all those things and it makes excellent coffee. I LOVE waking up and having my coffee already made. However, there are silly little drawbacks like the fact that it's very hard to tell how much water you're putting in, the carafe cannot be placed on the burner unless it is partially open (to allow the coffee in while brewing, I suppose), and it doesn't stay as hot as I would like. Not bad, you can adapt to these things, but I had hoped for a little smarter design for this price. I didn't have the trouble with quality other reviewers have mentioned. It seems perfectly well made. If Capresso reads these reviews and makes some small modifications, it will be a perfect coffeemaker.

not quite as great as reviewed

This coffee maker makes wonderful, arromatic coffee and the timer feature is convenient. The water filtration system works great.

Potential problems are with the cafafe- if not inserted into the unit correctly, spillage can occur. This is also a problem if the swing-out filter door is not fully closed. Your coffee will be on the floor.

The only other complaint I have is the cafafe will not store in the unit while the carafe lid is closed. Not space saving in a small kitchen.
