I have only had my grinder a week so I can't vouch for it's durability but it's grind is uniform and quick. There is very little mess to clean up and I have seen no static electricity with this machine. I use mine for both french press and drip grinds and does a good job on both.

We've had our KitchenAid coffee mill now for several weeks and couldn't be happier. No more fumbling around pouring beans in every morning, just place the glass under the door and flip the switch. Unlike our Cuisinart blade grinder, this mill makes perfectly consistence grinds EVERY TIME on any setting, and along with our Bunn BT10, results in the perfect brew. More impressive than the great grinds is the overall quality of the mill itself. Now I can see why KitchenAid decided to reintroduce the product unchanged from the original version. It ranks up there with their legendary quality similar to their counter top mixers. Everything about the mill is heavy duty. The hopper, lid, switch porcelain finish and even the measuring cup are first class. Need I mention classic looks also adds a retro feel to the kitchen? Two thumbs way up !!

Excellent and Convenient Coffee Mill!

Well made. Not only is this a high quality product but it's equally a pleasure to look at! It's sturdy and durable. It contains burr blades which are known to be better for grinding the beans. I own this one and the smaller Kitchenaid c-blade grinder, and definitely prefer this one to the smaller one. (I have reserved the smaller one for grinding spices since the metal cup is removable and easy to clean). To operate this mill is very simple: just flick the little metal switch on the lower RH side up and it'll start grinding. 16 settings is cool too. Here's how that works: You remove the jar from the base and just turn the ring that the jar sets it ti the desired setting (I like mine to the finer setting). Supposedly you should be able to do this while you have the jar in place, but I do it my way because I find it easier. Depending on the coffee beans and what you desire, it's nice to have the option of various settings. Now one of the highlights of this coffee mill is being able to have a lb of beans in the jar, flicking the switch on, and out comes fresh milled coffee. The beans stay fresh in the jar since it is enclosed. So I fill it up once a week, and that's it! It is easy to clean. There is a small wooden brush that is included in this purchase for brushing off excess milled coffee. You can clean the burrs too, but I have not done that yet so don't know the procedure. Also included, is a little neat glass jar that allows you to measure coffee grind for up to 14 cups. Just set it under the spout where the coffee comes out and measure how much coffee you want to use. All I can say is that I am so glad that KA decided to re-release this model with the same quality (I read about the older version) and I love the fact that it is made in the USA! It's truly a jewel on my counter top that sure brightens up my mornings! And anytime I look at it, for that matter.
